"I was adopted into a white family, and when looking through my childhood pictures, I noticed my hair transitioning from its natural thick and curly state when I was a baby, to it almost being dead-straight 24/7 as I grew into my teens.
My aunt is a hairdresser, so I assume she just took it upon herself to do my hair. I let her do whatever she wanted, I was so young I didn’t know any different about my hair (and I don't think they did either).
Growing up, it was just hair to me, we all had it? I don't recall my mom or my aunt making me feel as though my bushy, natural hair was ugly. For them, relaxing, straightening or blow drying it just meant less time trying to get me dressed and ready for anything. It was simply just convenient - for them. At some point in high school I actually forgot what my natural hair texture was like, because I just straightened it every single day.
For the past 4 years I’ve been on a very emotional hair journey, just trying to revitalize and bring back my natural curls, and it just made me realise that each person has their own story or "hair journey" that is often marked by struggles stemming back to childhood.
I want to play a part in changing that."

We had so much fun! Jodi is delightful and so easy to talk to! We love our products and new accessories too, and can’t wait to play around with different styles!

Jodi’s workshop really showed me the different possibilities out there for hair care and hair styles. She broke each style down into easy steps and made them easy to understand and do! And all this was done in a fun and relaxed environment.

Jodi spent more than 3 hours with my 12 and 13 year old son and daughter. They chatted hair, products, styling and adoption! I can highly recommend this! My kids (and I) learnt so much and feel encouraged and armed with the info we need!

It was such an informative workshop. My baby is still young, and I have not spent a lot of time learning how to care for his hair as he still has his baby fluff. My daughter and I had a great time at the workshop. I learnt so much about hair care and styling and it was the first time I’d ever done a style myself. Meanwhile my daughter got to hang out with other kids and was spoilt with delicious treats to keep her sitting whilst I learnt how to do her hair. Would definitely recommend as a great learning and bonding experience for parent and child.
